Just thought I’d update you on Elijah and Bella and what they’ve been up to in the village.
Elijah has been a big help with the fuel for the motor—either filling the drums or helping with driving. He’s also been lifting things with Caleb whenever we need extra muscle. He’s in 11th grade and studying for the CLT (a standardized test) in December. He’s feeling the pressure of this term because it will be his last one with us here in PNG; he graduates in 2028. We’re still working through what he wants to do next, but he’s leaning toward the College of the Ozarks in Missouri. He loves playing basketball and goes on one pig hunt and one crocodile hunt every time we’re in the village. Recently he and a few others got two small crocs. In his free time he’s been trying to build a forge out of the local clay. He also plays board games with Bella and hangs out talking with his friends in our wind house.
Bella has been taking care of her three new chickens we got after returning to Moka—Storm, Pearl, and Chip. She plays basketball and soccer as well, but her favorite thing is having a friend come over to the porch so they can make friendship bracelets. She’s in 9th grade. We’ve been doing a lot of cooking together lately, which has been really nice. She also helps me with medicine time and fetches things from the house whenever I need them. Because the weather is just so hot here a lot of times Bella works on crafts.
We are so thankful for them both and all the work they help us with in this ministry!
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Prov 22:6
